Mt Kenya Castle Forest ( Kamweti Route)

Castle Forest in the Mount Kenya region lies on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya, near Kamweti in Kirinyaga County. It forms part of the Mount Kenya Forest Reserve and sits at an altitude ranging from about 1,800 to 3,000 meters above sea level. The forest is dense and rich in biodiversity, with indigenous trees such as camphor, cedar, and podo. It supports wildlife including elephants, buffalo, monkeys, and a wide variety of bird species. The Kamweti area is a common access point for hikers and researchers entering this section of the forest.
